The challenges of a japanese student

Even though I really can't find that much particularly difficult about japanese, one way or another it tends to suck a lot of my day away from me. Especially the kanji. It's like a bittersweet learning process, being a westerner and all. one alphabet, no cool characters that people laugh at if you can actually read it. I have seen quite a few people with mis-written kanji on their bodies forever, but can never have the heart to tell them "i actually know japanese, you got that completely wrong". Even if you do read some things with out a japanese native there to verify, most people will say you make it all up anyways, but honestly, who really cares... But of course, nobody wants to hear about school while clearly slacking off on blogger, but I'm certified addicted to this blogging nonsense and I need to give you guys something to comment on everyday so hopefully you will come back everyday and click all of my posts and things I have to offer (if any) on my blog to keep our well oiled blogosphere economy running! so if you got this far into reading this, I applaud you.

***************If TL;DR -
Japanese is hard, so is kanji, I laugh at people with wrong japanese tattoos, stickers, etc., my blog is boring, comment NAO.

Peace, till next time. Most likely tomorrow. I'll get some cool stuff up soon I promise. Any requests? I can do pretty much anything.

  1. Yeah, kanji is the only hard thing about the language, and I guess finding someone to practice it with. There are lots of Japanese people here where I am, but they all seem stuck up o.O

  16. Yeah, I took five years of Japanese when I was in school. It was a very fun and difficult part of school. I'm thinking about retaking it through Rosetta Stone or something.

I do agree with on the tattoo thing although usually I laugh at their misinformation and how smug they are about it.

"No, this definitely means love. I asked the tattoo artist"

"No, I got this handy little dictionary and it does not love. It means house. I don't know why they tattoo'd house on you bu-"

"NO SHUT UP YOU'RE WRONG YOU LOSE AND KEVIN BACON WASN'T IN FOOTLOOSE!!!"

    "..."

  17. Friend of mine just got a Japanese symbol tattoo on the back of her neck, laughed at her because though she said she knew what It said.
There really isn't anyway for her to know.

  20. Kanji is a pain in the ass to learn. I try not to cram it all, but rather, just take it one step at a time. My kanji vocabulary is pretty crappy, but i really see no reason to learn to a kanji or kanji compound for a word that I never use. Stick with it, it takes practice.

  22. I've always wanted to learn japanese. Is it possible to get enough practice/experience with hearing it spoken by watching anime to at least make progress on it (while studying kanji of course, not just "watch anime learn japanese") or would I be out of luck if I have no one to speak it with?

  27. Japanese is so damn complicated, Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana... It would be bad enough if these was just one symbol set!
